13 June 2007 When in Rome....

Well, we have made it to Rome! Our 12ish hours of exhausting plane rides have definitely caught up with us. We napped for quite a while yesterday after we got here. Rome is so awesome though! Just walking around the city is like being in a dream and we haven't even gotten started yet! We have had our fair share of struggles on the way here...transfering airlines in Chicago...I think that is what started it all. After transfering to a different airline b/c of reasons beyond our control we get to Rome and our luggage did not :( That's right! We have nothing! So that is a little scary and yesterday was insanely frustrating, but hey, we are in stinkin' ROME!

Today we are off to see the Colosseum and the Palentine and other things! I am sure that we will have much more to share tonight! I haven't figured out pics yet, but I will try more later! We love you all SO much and miss you a ton!

Amanda and Katie,
Good to see something from you! I hope by now your luggage has arrived and all is well. Take lots of pictures and write down what stuff is. You'll see so much you won't be able to remember it all!
Love you lots,
Mom

Hey girls, as Sam-wise would say, "I wonder what adventure we have fallen into now, Mr. Frodo?" Your story began some 24 years ago. Now you are writing a new chapter. How exciting. It is very good to hear from you all. I can only imagine the sites and marvels that you are seeing. May God be with you, my prayers are. Love Dad

How exciting, you lovely young ladies!! I'm so happy for your adventure, but remember, don't shake your head "yes" if you don't know what they're saying! You know those Italians.... :-) God bless your time there! Love you, Annette Meyer

Amanda & Katie:

It's sure good to hear from you, knowing that you are safe and seeing lots of sights. We wiil get to see all the "sights" through your eyes. I know you will have lots of pictures to show and much to tell us. How lucky you are. I LOVE YOU!

AHH, no luggage! We'll just another excuse to shop (I recommend vintage), but remember you have to tote around every ounce you buy:) I am sincerely excited for you two! Will be praying for your safety, be smart. A positive thing about losing your luggage is you might look a little less like tourists...PS eat lots of gelato and watch out for the creeps that dress up like guards at the Colosseum! CIAO

Amanda,
I was so excited to hear that you have arrived! Who cares if you have clothes? The history teacher is me is jealous. The human being in me is insanely jealous! I have always wanted to go to Italy and experience the culture, food, and see the sights. Take tons of photos and keep me posted on your adventures!
Love, Sharyl

Amanda and Katie! It is sad that you arrived and your luggage did not, but hopefully it is with you now. I don't think Italians like stinky women, but at least you won't have to be embarassed by the hairy armpits;-). I miss you guys so much! Take lots of pictures... like you need to be told that, ha! Love you ladies!

P.S. Amanda, I'm seriously considering chopping off a lot of my hair... just so you have some warning.

Memorize this Spanish phrase: "Nuestras madres le matarĂ¡n si usted es unkind a nosotros!" It means "our mothers will kill you if you are unkind to us!" And that goes for train schedulers! Sounds like you two are rising above your circumstances (you must be praying daily)--yea! Have a blast! Love, Annette
